Generation Y

I am trying very hard to understand my children these days who fall under generation Y,you see I am from the generation X. It's not easy to understand today's children , the internet age.To really click with them, I have to speak their 'lingo'.What they want and aspire is really very different from my generation.I must admit I am a mom who lets my children get away with alot of things.Of course,every now and again I get really frustrated and blew up, I am only human.Today's children have so many doors open to them such as drugs, vice etc etc.So we are really walking a fine line here, if we are not careful we may just lose our children to them.As parents today,we have to really listen to our children and I mean really listen.Not to impose our dreams ,religion and ideas on them.We can only guide them and give them our love because love conquers all.But our children are not stupid ,they have their dreams and aspiration too so as parents we can only advise them. Parents are really stupid if they don't try to listen to their children, because sometimes they are really trying to tell us something but we just shut our ears to them. We don't always understand what they are saying but we could at least try to see things from their point of view even if we totally disagree with them. I admit it's trying at times but if we could only listen, then maybe there won't be so many runaways these days.

I feel damned old lately.I mean I can't believe I have got a 16 going on 17 son.And the worst thing is he is not going to stop growing.I swear sometimes I feel really young at heart but when is this feeling going to stop.I am counting my days.No matter how hard I try , I can't shake the feeling we are going to grow old one day.I still have this phobia about growing old.I know about living in the now but time just flies so fast.Then again age is just a number ,right.Like they say,40s is the new 20s.These days people take pains to maintain their looks so they will look timeless.To you young people,enjoy your youth cos it's never going to come back.A good thing about aging though is newfound confidence and wisdom(I hope).Seriously I still can't understand why we grow old,lol.
